Omeprazole is a medicine used in the prevention and treatment of certain stomach problems and esophagus problems like ulcers, acid reflux. This medicine works by reducing the amount of acid that is required in your body. This medicine helps in reducing symptoms like a persistent cough, difficulty in swallowing, heartburn.

This medicine also helps prevent the cancer of the esophagus, and it belongs to a class of drugs named proton pump inhibitors.

Dosage

Take this Capsule by mouth.

Note: This medicine may take 1 to 14 days to full effect. It doesn’t cause heartburn right away.

For adults

Dosage and treatment duration are based on medical response and your treatment response.

For children

The dosage in children is based on children’s weight.

Please don’t increase the dosage of this medicine more often than its directed.

When not to use

If you have any medical history related to liver disease, lupus, or if you are hypersensitive to drugs, then consult your doctor before using this medicine.

•         Don’t chew, crush or break this tablet. Swallow this medicine whole with a glass of water

•         Take it with antacids, along with the medication when needed. If you are taking sucralfate, take omeprazole a minimum of 30 minutes before sucralfate.

•         Those who are under pregnancy are advised to consult their doctor before intaking this medicine.

•         Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor if you are allergic to it or any drugs such as esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole.
