Description

Uses

  • ‣ Calamox tablets are used in the treatment of skin tissue and periodontal infections such as wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, and superficial/ juvenile, deep pyoderma because of the suspectable strains of bacteria.
  • ‣ This medicine is also used in the treatment of bacterial infections such as the infection that occurs in the upper and lower respiratory tracts, skin and soft tissues, urinary tract, nose, ear, and throat.
  • ‣ It’s a combination of penicillin types of antibiotics that treats a wide variety of bacterial infections. as this tablet only treats bacterial infections, so this medicine will not work on viral infections (like flu and cold.) using calamox tablet medication when it is not recommended or needed will not cause it to work on future infections.

Dosage 

Follow the directions on the label carefully and all the information your doctor prescribed you. The dosage is recommended on patients’ condition, height weight, treatment response.

For infants and neonates aged between 12 months or younger than that: the recommended dosage of the medicine is 30 mg/kg per day divide into two doses daily.

Calamox dosage for children  

The usual recommended daily dosage is 25mg per day with a gap of eight hours.

Under 1 year

2.5mg for a child who weighs 7.5 kg would require 2ml of calamox 156.25 syrup 3 times a day.

For 1-6 years (10-18 kg)

5ml of syrup 3 times a day

For 6 years

In severe conditions, the dosage may be increased up to 50mg/kg day in the divided days every eight hours. So, each of the 25mg calamox provides 20mg Amoxycillin and 5mg clavulanic acid.

Dosage in Renal impairment

Firstly, in the conditions of renal impairment (creatinine), clearance> 30mnl/min no change in dosage is required.

In moderate conditions, the renal impairment (creatinine clearance > 10-30), one 75mg tablet, or one calamox 625mg tablet hourly is renal impairment. In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 10m/min) not more than 375 mg every 12 hours.

Side effects

Here are some side effects that you might experience while using calamox tablets.

  • • Diarrhea
  • • Headache 

If any of these side effects gets worsens or persist then consult your doctor immediately.

When not to use

This medicine is not recommended to patients who have any kind of history related to serious hypersensitivity reactions such as Steve’s Johnson syndrome, anaphylaxis to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or any other beta-lactam antibacterial drugs like cephalosporins and cephalosporins.

Precautions

  • • If you are allergic or have hypersensitive allergies, or to clavulanic acid or amoxicillin or penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, or if you have any other allergies then please consult your doctor before intaking this medicine. The medicine contains inactive ingredients that cause an allergic reaction in your body.
  • • Continue taking this medicine, until you reach the prescribed amount by the doctor. Even if you feel the disappearing of symptoms, don’t stop taking the medication early, as it may allow the bacteria to grow again, this may result in returning the infection.
  • • This medication is passed into the breast milk, so consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • • If you are pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking these calamox tablets.
  • • If you have any of the problems related to liver disease (that includes liver problems, that are caused by the clavulanic acid /amoxicillin), kidney disease (requiring analysis), a specific type of viral infection (such as dialysis.)
