Uses

Lowplat tablets are used in the prevention of heart attacks and strokes. This medicine works by inhibiting or preventing platelet aggregation. This medicine is indicated for patients who recently had a heart attack, blood circulation disease (peripheral vascular disease), or recent stroke.

Dosage

This medicine should be used for oral administration, i.e., via mouth only. Lowplat tablet is indicated to older patients and above 18 years once a day. But the dosage is dependent on the severity of the patient’s condition.

Don’t stop taking this medicine early than recommended. Do not increase or decrease the dosage without your doctor’s consultation. Also, please don’t increase the dosage of medicine more than recommended. Also, don’t leave the medicine between the course even if you feel the disappearing of symptoms.

Please don’t eat or drink grapefruit; it will increase the chances of clopidogrel.

Side Effects

Here are some side effects of Lowplat tablets

• Upset stomach/ pain

• Constipation

• Easy bleeding/ bruising

• Diarrhoea

If any of these effects get worsens or persists, tell your doctor right away.

When not to use

Lowplat tablets are not advised to use in patients hypersensitive to clopidogrel or any of the ingredients of this medicine. The formula (clopidogrel) increases the risk of bleeding.

It is also contraindicated in patients with active pathological bleeding, including intracranial bleeding and GI bleeding.

• Before you take Lowplat tablets, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to them or any similar antiplatelet drugs or if you have any other allergies. This product contains inactive ingredients that might cause allergic reactions and other problems in your body. Consult your doctor for more information

• Avoid eating or grapefruit or juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do it safely. The grapefruit increases the chances of side effects when taking medicine.

• Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any medical history primarily related to bleeding conditions (like bleeding in the brain/eye, stomach ulcers), recent surgery, severe injury/ trauma, bleeding disease (haemophilia), liver disease.

• If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

• This medication is passed into breast milk, so consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
